Beautiful Bodies Are Our Business
Here is the 56 Thunderbird in the 1st Stage of the Restoration Process. We begin by removing all the chrome, rubber, glass and interior from the vehicle before stripping the paint.
Next we begin removing the paint from the vehicle, main body, jambs, between all the louvers, etc. The entire vehicle will be without paint.
As you can see the vehicle is NOW coming along and we are able to see all the imperfections that were HIDDEN by the paint. Rust Protection is applied and Bodywork will begin.
Once the Bodywork and Imperfections have been taken care of and completed, a tracer coat is applied and sanded to ensure a straight bodyline.
We then check each panel for alignment and gap to assure a straight body line. Repair any Imperfections to panels as needed and Clean and Wash Vehicle and Prep the vehicle
for refinish. Seal Vehicle, Apply Five (5) Coats of Base and Six (6) Coats of Glamour Clear.
We then Wet Sand and Block the entire vehicle, using a (3) stage Buffing Process. Stage One : Compound Buff….Buff vehicle with course compound to remove wet sand
scratches. Stage Two: Polish Buff….Buff Vehicle with Mid Cut Compound to remove Compound Swirls. Stage Three (Final) ….. Buff Vehicle with very fine Polish to remove all
swirls, and bring to a Lustrous Finish. After all of that is completed we finish re-assembling the vehicle wash and Detail interior and Prep for Delivery.
New "eyebrow caps" had to be fabricated for the car due to the rot and decay of the original panels as well as left and right quarter panels. Our Fabricator had to make new
quarters from steel for this vehicle as new replacement panels were not available at the time.
